I find this unsettling… but I’m not sure why. I know progress, well, some progress, is good. Perhaps my concern is because there is so much progress so quickly that I’m not sure we know what to do with it all. Thankfully, what I do know is that no matter how quickly we progress, God remains the same.

the stuff at the end about the $1000 computer that will surpass the human brains ability to calculate is the scariest part.

no question, we are living in rapidly changing times. change happens faster than most of us can even imagine.

on the opposite side, like Seth Godin says, now is a great time to lead a Tribe. with rapid change comes opportunity.

    Maybe it’s not progress.

I read Godin’s book too (cause of you, Anne!). And it’s the best one I’ve read in a long, long time.

The only problem with the postulation that a computer could surpass the human brain’s capability is that it is entirely dependent on a human brain for it’s computational framework to begin with ? and that’s not even factoring in the brain’s ability to come to novel conclusions by adopting new paradigms and adjust all its other paradigms to fit the new paradigm, so often that we can’t even be aware of them all ??which, of course, would be impossible to program… or match.

I like the remix of this video. It would be cool if someone updated all the numbers and did it again. I’m sure it’s close to what it was a year or two ago (the MySpace numbers were from 2006). But still, it’s obvious to see the trends. I don’t find any of it scary – I find it exciting! What opportunities God has given us!

“But as for you, Daniel, conceal these words and seal up the book until the END OF TIME; many will go back and forth, and knowledge will increase.” Daniel 12:4

People freak out over the Book of Daniel and the Book of Revelation and MOST Pastors/Churches dismiss the thought of end times prophecy as gobbledygook. What people don’t realize is that the authors, Daniel and John were, by the Holy Spirit, transported to the Last Days (our time?) and were given the almost impossible task of communicating what they saw in their Hebrew language.

Wow the numbers are crazy. What got my attention was the myspace members. That is crazy! It really makes you think a lot. That there is much more going on than what we think.

    fabulous piece.
    thanks!

but now that it’s the opposite, it’s twice upon a time”.

“these are the times that bend men’s minds”.

    therefore . . .

“be still, be still; know that i am god”.

    “comfort, comfort my people”.
comfort – from the hebrew “nacham” (to cause to breathe again)
