Texas

I just got off the phone with my friend Wes at Lake Pointe. Wes, Christina, and all the other media family at Lake Pointe became fast friends with me over the last few weeks. I have appreciated their unconditional love, wisdom, grace & acceptance through the process of interviewing for a position with them.

It was not an easy call to make. Not a single red flag presented itself. Everything pointed to yes. But something in my spirit kept saying “This is a season for you to be still.” The counsel I sought outside confirmed “Don’t feel like you have to take the job.”

So, it was with much procrastination that I called Wes today to let him know of my decision not to move in that direction. He only called me a couple bad names after I told him no…(Just kidding, Wes!) He understood completely and lovingly our decision. And now, I have more friends to hang out with when I visit Texas. To all you LP people who have found your way here to my blog – thank you. I enjoyed meeting you so much! I’m blessed to count you friends (and JJ, I know you’re reading this…so quit your lurking and leave a comment! You have been found out!)

What’s next? I don’t know. Checking into some local possibilities for employment and freelancing to keep the gas bill paid (it’s supposed to be freezing this weekend!).

Thanks for your prayers and tracking with me. If you’re reading this, I love doing life with you.

But….I’m so good at lurking!! Well…if someone spilled the beans, I might as well add my two cents!

Anne, it really was awesome meeting you and Chris and getting to spend some time with you at Lake Pointe! (And, yes, I have really enjoyed getting to know you through your writings here as well! :-)) I can say without hesitation that you DEFINITELY have new friends here and I for one will be disappointed if you guys don’t keep in touch!

I certainly repect your decision. It takes a lot of character and integrity I think to be willing to admit to yourself and others that God is leading you away from something when “Everything pointed to yes”. I also know it will turn out to be the right decision for you and for us. Why? Because I know there have been an awful lot of people on all sides of this praying for wisdom and guidance through this process. Praying for discernment in what would be best for you and Chris as well as for us at Lake Pointe. The fact that He told you to wait simply means He has other plans. It is not always for us to know or understand those plans. It is only for us to seek His will and follow Him.

Of course, if you’re like me, the next question you’re asking is “Lord, why put me through the process and send me down the path in the first place if it wasn’t where you wanted me to be?” Answer: God only knows (and indeed He does)! I think we all can find some wisdom, insight or knowledge in any of life’s journeys and you made some new friends along the way. Maybe that’s enough or maybe there’s something else down the road that none of us have discovered yet. The future is an uncertain and elusive thing and God holds it all in His hands! My own journey into full time ministry is a testimony to the fact that we never know what God has planned for us!

Unquestionably, I do think it would have been a blast having you on our team. As you can tell, I am surrounded by some of the coolest folks around and I definitely think that you and Chris would have only added to our “coolness”!

I know the Lord wants to do incredible things in your life. I’ll be praying with you as you seek His will.

    Hey Anne,

As to the question: Yes, we are Floridians (take that from one who was born and raised here, me). Maybe you were just looking at the wrong LP, maybe you were supposed to be looking at LP in Lake Mary, FL (LifePoint Church). haha

    Take care, still praying,
    Jason

They said it could be a pelvic infection, but that was very unlikely. It could be because I’m at five weeks, which around when I would be having my period if I hadn’t gotten pregnant. It could have been because of sex (so I’m not allowed to have any for a week!). Lots of maybe’s, nothing definite. Thanks for your concern, it’s really appreciated. Hope you had a great Valentine’s day!

    Anne,

Amen to what JJ said. It takes a great deal of courage and maturity to recognize the voice that says, Be still, and know that I am God.

When Mike’s mom was dying she used to say that verse. When it got to the point that she couldn’t say anything, she would try to put her finger to her lips and say, “Shhh.” I knew what she was doing. She was saying,” be quiet, He’s there, just listen.”

She died only a few weeks after we were married, but that lesson is still part of me – when the world is full of confusion and trouble, all God wants us to do is be still.

Hard when you’re a person of action, isn’t it?

  11. […] I’ve gotten a few emails and comments asking for some elaboration in the sudden, “Hey, we’re moving to Texas” decision. And for good reason, as back on February 14th, I informed everyone of our decision not to take the job at Lake Pointe. […]
