What Can You Do to Fight Sex Trafficking – Part 1

Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.

I just came back from being out all day and saw how many times “The Sex Cafe” story was shared through Facebook and Twitter and was just so grateful I almost cried.

(Still having issues with that though…)

Anyway, so many of you are asking “how can we help?”

Because this is so new to Children’s Hope Chest, the organization I’m traveling with, and there aren’t many people doing many things in Moldova, we have been exploring potential partnerships and are working on a way that will provide you opportunities where you can help specific programs and projects.

We hope to have this up in the next few days or by early next week.

Until then, this is the best way you can help:

Continue doing what you’re doing.

Share these stories.

Here are a few ideas:

  • Email them to your pastor, your small group, your church staff and leaders
  • Share them with your local newspaper, other news outlets like local news stations and even national/international news stations like CNN.
  • Ask your favorite bloggers to write about them, link to them, or Tweet them.
  • A few of you have tweeted links to celebrities. That’s such a creative idea. I know the chances are slim but hey, you just never know where the story may hit home for someone with an even larger platform for sharing and motivating people.
  • Share the stories with your family, friends, and co-workers.

Basically, spread these stories as far as they will go. This is a darkness so dark it needs as much light on it as possible.

Again, thank you for all your help telling these stories.

We will have a very strategic action plan for those wanting to get involved posted Sunday night or Monday morning US time. We are heading to Moscow early tomorrow morning and are ironing out details of intentional partnerships with long-term help and care programs.

So…more to come soon. We want to make sure we’re approaching this need in the most dignified and respectful as well as sustainable way possible.

LOVE YOU GUYS. And I mean that. Thank you for sharing all this.

I printed out the blog and posted it on my classroom wall. My kids get SO ANGRY every time we talk about sex trafficking. I also made my coworkers listen to the story. They weren’t very happy with me bursting their happy Friday bubble, but it needed to be shared and it sparked a discussion about trafficking within the US. Thank you, again Anne for being there and having the courage to post your experiences. Praying blessings for you and the team.

I know of two different groups (one personally, the other through the Internet) working on this issue in Moldova (and you know how small Moldova is!).

Thank you for writing about this. It’s horrible to read, but it’s more horrific to remain ignorant about it. I live in Houston, which is one of the worst cities for trafficking in the US. It’s going on less than 5 miles from where I live and it’s difficult to know what to do about it, but doing nothing isn’t an option.

I pray that God will use His servant, Anne, to reveal what we can do for Him to combat this evil and bring Him glory.

What an amazing account of how the horrors of trafficking are happening all around us… may we have eyes to see. I’m in Phoenix (our nation’s capitol for this white collar crime of trafficking) and the numbers are sickening. It’s easy for people to assume this only happens overseas in countries thought of as less-than by American political priorities and materialism. It’s not just overseas though. It’s in our cities. It threatens our little ones. Nextdoor to my favorite coffee shop, in a neighborhood known for safety, high Christian population (defined by church/private school membership more than anything else) and a very strong sense of community, an accountant had 14 girls in his basement. We cannot stand for this. Thank you for echoing that in Moldova!

Check out these links to what is going on here and abroad, and may your hope be bolstered by like minded warriors!

THIS AIN’T NO SIGHTSEEING TRIP has been posted. And prayed over.

Watch the ripple effect, Anne, of your obedience, as the people in your world begin to share with the people in their worlds.

    Ann,

You’re doing great work. Can’t wait to hear what you come up with for an action plan. God bless!

    Hi Anne,

We’ve all been very touched by your stories. So what I’ve done is include parts of them – I hope the more moving ones – in the chapter on “Loving Immigrants, Orphans and Widows” in my book manuscript. (You’re welcome to suggest improvements.) If I recall correctly, you’ve already bookmarked the site on your computer, but if not, just click on our names.

God continue blessing you and bring you home safely.
