Shame is a sickness…
A disease…
That keeps us hidden.
The remedy for shame is grace.
Grace that requires you to step aside when you know you’re right.
Grace that requires you to consider others better than yourself.
Grace that hurts and is dangerous.
Someone around you needs that grace right now.
Go give it.
And give it freely.

Ouch. Conviction. Needed conviction. I am going to go repent now and walk out by door and extend grace. Thank you for that reminder.
i tend to have grace for others but none for myself. it used to be the other way around but somewhere along the way it flipped. oh balance, how i wish i could find you. and often wonder when i will be able to figure that out.

Ahhh shame. I know all about it. For 11 years…..I lived with shame on a daily basis. The cure for shame in my opinion? Confessing…..
not confessing to just anyone…..not just to God….but confessing in a safe place…a place where you can find healing.
And grace is definitely a part of the cure for shame. But grace is always there…it’s whether or not you take it and live in it and wrap it all around you….living IN grace. The grace of God can have no power in our life if we refuse it.
Grace is opening up yourself…..getting absolutely and real…like raw in the presence of God.
Once I found the true love and grace of God, the shame fell off of me and never to return! Sure I have regret, but shame is gone.
Great post!

Sometimes we rub others people’s noses in their shame for the edification of ourselves instead of extending them the grace they deserve. Thanks for the reminder Anne.

Shame is often the result of believing what others — or we ourselves — say about us, rather than what God says about us. A good measuring question: “Does God like me?”

A good reminder that we do not always have to be right! Having so freely received grace, how dare we keep it all to ourselves and not share it with others with equal abandon!
