Amazon just changed the release date of Mad Church Disease to January 25 instead of February 1!? Meaning if you preordered, you’ll be getting your copy in the mail next week!
If you haven’t preordered, you can still do it here and lock in the low low price of only $11.55.? That’s for a stinking hardcover.? I took some pics of it for you guys…
If you plan on reading MCD, what’s the one thing you hope to learn?

Since I have not scored any free copies…lol…I’m ordering mine this weekend when I get paid. Also Anne…I’ll be sending you an email….hope to hear back soon.
Looking forward to getting this next week or the week or the week after.

oh yeah…forgot to mention it, the bottom picture reminds me of the cartoon picture of KILLJOY or whatever that character’s name was…lol
That is great news! I ordered mine on Monday and was lamenting the fact that I had to wait a few weeks to receive it.
Rock frickin’ ON!!! Can’t wait!
What do I wanna learn?
Well, I’m a volunteer who’s putting in about 20+ hrs/week (not including time spent at home working on church stuff). I guess I’m worried that if I start feeling the onset of burnout symptoms, and I decide to take some time for margin, the fledgling kids program at our three-week-old New Brunswick campus will be left leader-less, and a massive burden will be placed on our student ministries pastor and the director of kids programming at our Morristown campus. I’m sure everyone will roll with the punches, but i still worry about it.
Is this a legitimate fear?
thats sweet!
congrats to you!
must be getting a lot of preorders….they dont bump up release dates for books that could suck!
ive got a few on the way for my pastor and the rest of the staff!
im excited!
peace out.
You know, unless I miss my guess, I would say that you’re a little bit excited about your book release. Am I off?
Forgot to let you know what I hope to learn…
I’d love some validation that “the church” as we know it is broken beyond repair, and that I’m justified in finding another avenue. But I’m afraid I’m just going to hear that it’s common what I’m going through, and give me tips on how to stay sane within. :)
The life of a pastor’s son is unlike any other. Probably similar only to the daughter of a pastor…
I can’t wait to read it. I hope to learn what I did wrong and how to prevent it from happening again. I was a volunteer who didn’t know how to say no (or that it was even allowed).
Did I read somewhere that there will be a copy in the catalyst aqua box? (Don’t worry, I’m ordering one anyway – just want to know if I’ll have an extra to give away.)
Congratulations, Anne. I know you’ve been working hard for a long time.
I’m so happy for you Anne. Just looking at the pictures I couldn’t help but feel so excited for you, an author, having a book published and it being a really good book. God bless you and I pray it sells like crazy!!
we actually have a copy here at the church and I can NEVER get my hands on it… I am going to have to pre-order a copy just so I can read it since no one around here will share :)
I am so excited for you and I hope this book really speaks to the heart of the issues
Karen – you may be right :)
Dude
I have to admit…I was actually relieved and excited to hear that the books have shipped…what an awesome journey! Thanks so much for being so transparent about the whole thing. I’m not a writer, but you inspire and make it look so easy! Here’s to the next leg of the journey.

why, yes, i DO plan to read it…hopefully very soon! :)
what’s one thing that i hope to learn? i am curious to see if God will show me that i have flirted with MCD (as a non-paid church leader) over the past few years and been unaware.
I plan to read it…along with all the theology/church readings required by classes this semester…which might just lead to some reading burn out (the class work, not MCD!)
Along with learning more about myself and how to avoid/survive MCD, I hope to be challenged to have more compassion for fellow ministers who may be in the midst of such a situation.

I’m so glad I can get my hands on something like this now, as I’m getting into fulltime ministry! what do I hope to learn?–how to avoid the pitfalls and to learn from others!! I’m thinking this will be a tool to pull out again and again–can’t wait to read it!
I hope your writing will expand upon what I have already learned as I’ve walked through burnout. I hope it will affirm, give me resources and give me steps to living in a healthy manner. I also want to know I am not alone. :)
I hope to learn PREVENTION rather than CURE!
By the way..the book is now 13.25 on Amazon.com but still a great deal for a HARDCOVER book :-)
I pre-ordered through Barnes and Noble (had a nice gift card and coupon) and am excited for it to arrive. I hope to learn how to be a more productive encourager, refueler and stabilizer to those I work with who are struggling with MDC. Better yet, how to use my gifts to prevent MDC for those that God has directed me to be an intercessor for.
It released today! So the price went up! BUT IT’s OUT!!!
Anne – I ordered a day too late, but I figure it’s still a bargain. Can’t wait to read! Congratulations!
This is so exciting for you. I’m thrilled to see a long awaited work coming to fruition for you. And so many people touched. I know the next couple months will be a whirlwind! Looking forward to next Friday…
I got this email the other day from Amazon saying my purchase had shipped. I thought: “I didn’t make any Amazon purchases!” THEN! I realized it was my Mad Church Disease book I ordered months ago! I was SO SO EXCITED!!! I absolutely cannot WAIT to get it!!!! YAY ANNE!
I can’t wait to dive into MCD! It should be here on Thursday, so I may take Friday off to get through it all in one sitting. I hope that reading MCD will help me be a better pastor, husband, and healthier Christian all around.
Thanks for your passion and your heart for church leaders!
