Growing up Catholic.. we used to sing this in church ALL the time. As I was reading…I was singing in my head the Catholic tune…It is the MOST beautiful prayer…Thanks for the daily GEM!

I love A Ragamuffin Band’s version of St. Francis’ prayer, called “Make Me An Instrument.” The words are, needless to say, beautiful. And the instrumentation — a combination of electric guitar, strings and horns — is very compelling. If you haven’t heard it, you should. I highly recommend it.

Thank you for that prayer. Reading it, I was struck with my amazingly constant need to humble myself (as some like to play with verb tenses, I guess it would be “be being humble”) before Jesus and people around me and to repent (heh, “be repenting,” I guess?), and to empty myself at his cross so as to be of useful service in representing Jesus to others.
