Last week I grabbed smoking battery charging cables as they were hooked up to our mini-van. I was scared to death, but had to give it a shot. Burnt myself as a result, but might have saved us a vehicle.
does quitting a job without having another one lined up in this kind of economy considered dangerous? lol. Otherwise, in March i bungie jumped off the worlds 3rd tallest bridge in South Africa. :)
Hubby & I rented scooters in Panama City Beach this summer. I had NEVER ridden one, much less driven one. The dangerous part was driving them to where the youth group was…
Went up with a parachuting team in a C-130 prop transport plane when I was a computer photographer in the US Air Force.
(Yes, it was the greatest job ever.)
I needed to get a good shot of the jump team jumping off but that meant hanging off the back of the plane. The flight crew wouldn’t let me do it unless I was anchored down to the floor. So I put on this vest with a cable with a D ring and strapped myself down while I hanged out the back of the plane in open air (feet still on the ramp) and shot down at the jump team.
i drove from northeast ohio all the way st. paul minnesota area in one day…13 hours….while having my computer plugged into an adapter in my cigarette lighter and watched the entire first season of 30 rock.
Sat in front of a room of 150 Christian college girls at a talk about sex and told them what they needed to hear: stop sleeping around (you deserve God’s best), if you’re playing with porn then stop it, drop your loser boyfriend who pressures you for sex, God grace covers even porn addicts and adulterers so if you’ve messed up with your boyfriend God’s grace can handle it.
35 days ago I gave away and sold everything I own to move to Paris and be a part of a very young church, and a completely crazy movement of God. I still havent yet figured out if that was the most dangerous or the safest thing I have ever done.
I’m a city girl. My idea of camping is staying in a hotel. Yesterday I committed to go on a missions trip to the Amazon and live on a boat for 12 days ministering to unreached peoples on the river basin and helping young churches with whatever they need. :oD
What fun! Let’s see, in years past, I have rappelled, climbed a cliff with ill-fitting gear, and gone cliff-jumping only to find later that I was just missing a shelf a few feet beneath the water’s surface. I once crawled through a cave opening so small I had to exhale to fit through it, claustrophobia and all. I have really slowed down since I had children. Something about being here to raise them. I don’t do too many dangerous things now, but yesterday, I plugged in the coffee pot with water on my hand. There was no AED (automated external defibrillator) anywhere around. What was I thinking?
@Nina my husband’s uncle once picked up that woman that Charlize Theron played in Monster. He traveled for a living and picked up a LOT of hitchhikers. I don’t think he stopped, even after he saw her on the news. Guess he thought if God got him past her he was in the clear.
does it count when I took 4 kids to the grocery store? although I just saw the peeing one and remembered I peed in a church parking lot in H******, TX and a car drove by and TOTALLY caught me…
Last week my mother and I went to California – parted ways at the airport. She went to visit her aunt/cousin near Redding, I went to the East SF Bay Area to visit my friends (who I call sisters) where I lived for 7 years. One friend and I went to pick up my mom on Thursday – and when asked in front of her – I admitted that I like living in CA better than Indiana.
That’s living dangerous. I moved to Indy 4 years ago to keep peace in the family. I’d rather move back to California with my friends. Until I started working for the family business one day a week a few months ago – I saw my family more cumulative time in a year when I lived in Cali – but I wasn’t nearby.
Don’t get me wrong – my photography has expanded since I moved here (CD’s and a magazine ad)…. and that’s all a God thing… but I need more friend time in Cali than I’ve had!
God’s got to show me how to take more trips if He doesn’t see fit to move me back!
If I answer strictly on the basis of physical danger I would say last weekend when I went on our Midnight outreach, which we do once a month. We go to strip clubs and give roses to the dancers and then we go to the worst parts of Baton Rouge to reach out to prostitutes, drug dealers and pimps. One place we go to, The Alamo motel, is a place many rough people wont even go. Every time we do outreach there, there are children as small as 3 playing outside at 11-12pm along side pimps, dealers and prostitutes. We pray with them, give them chocolate, invite them to church and soon we will be having a reading picnic once a month there for the kids, we will feed them lunch and give them books.
But actually, working at an inner city Dream Center we work with all kinds of “dangerous” people. I have no desire to play it safe, ever!
Went to the shooting range and shot about 9 different guns! Including a 10 mil Glock!! The level of danger is relative though… the little round targets weren’t shooting back at me! lol
Ditto on the driving one. Reminds me a little of Bilbo’s comments on walking out the front door from LOTR. I recently became a new dad. Sort of dangerous. Also right now looking actually giving MORE than 10% to the church. Feels good. Our pastor recently said to our regular attenders that if they decided they had no intention of giving to the church’s Generous Life campaign, they probably should find another church. Speaking of, the church made a dangerous decision a few months ago…50% of every dollar raised for our building campaign is being given away to the poor.
Yesterday…high ropes course. Ryan Bult proved just how dangerous it can be.

agreed to foster care a newborn downs baby whose mom did drugs while pregnant (so lost custody)… he is the cutest thing ever! eventually, if parents get their acts together we will have our hearts broken to give him back… and yet, they are backslidden christians who we want to see healed & restored… so we’re voting for our own heart break… but didn’t Christ do that for us? He certainly knew we’d break His heart over and over with intentional sin even though we received His tremendous gift of salvation. Now it’s our turn… but maybe it’s only dangerous to the amount of sleep we don’t get… we know we’re safe in His hands :~)
KO
Physical Danger:
Climbed to the Hollywood sign at 3 a.m.- 23 years ago!
Lived and workedd in the inner city- 12 years ago
Traveled as the only chaperon to six teens on a trip to Israel- 12 years ago
Nothing has come close to that on that level. However I have delivered two children, work in full time ministry, and work daily to have an authentic Christian life and marriage!
well since my baby girl has swallowing problems and bad reflux, giving her the bottle to practice with is my dangerous activity. i am TERRIFIED, like shaking and everything when i have to do it. but she has to learn so i have no alternative.

This morning I got in my car, started it and are you ready for this:
I drove down the street.
I can’t think of anything more dangerous than driving on the streets any more.
July. I went cliff diving in the Andes.
Suggested that Christians should think about helping transvestites pay for surgery.

I ended up throwing up afterward.
Accepted the fact that Barack Obama and his Socialist agenda is going to be elected President of the United States.

yesterday. i held a bloody, goopy, freshly emerged baby with no gloves. i hope i don’t get the hepatitis.
Why can’t I think of anything?? Must mean that its been awhile. Dern!
posted my weight on my blog.
I did something really stupid last weekend, some would consider it dangerous. It has certainly put my longest lasting friendship at risk.
Picked up a hitchhiker off a busy interstate and took me forty miles down the highway. Without mace or pepper spray handy!

I talked about dangerous stuff and it felt good.
Took on more student loan debt to facilitate a possible career change for my husband. And daily dangerousness is raising my children.

started applying and asking for references for an internship that would bring me to Africa for a year…..
Every time I let my wife drive my life is in danger. :)
Just now. Called a friend who said some hurtful things…they didn’t answer so I get to do it allllll over again!
Hmmmm, I think telling my wife something in church yesterday that she didn’t want to hear. Thanks God for sparing my life! LOL
After Catalyst I walked into a boys-home ministry and offered myself for service.
yesterday i allowed my australian friend to drive my car..
considering he’s driven once in his year in america..it was a little scary!
i peed in the woods while my husband was holding the camera…. enough said!
I do dangerous stuff all the time – like last night I punched a moose in the face while smoking a pipe.
does it count when I took 4 kids to the grocery store? although I just saw the peeing one and remembered I peed in a church parking lot in H******, TX and a car drove by and TOTALLY caught me…

Yesterday.
After church I approached the guy who, when started a conversation with, will talk for HOURS.
That my friend…is dangerous.

I made a pass at my wife……
Told my wife what i really thought about her.
Decided to end a friendship….
