i am a big fan of google alerts, but let’s face it — they aren’t always perfect.? and since i am officially a “twitter diva,” i really do want to know when someone is talking to me on twitter so i can respond if needed.
twitter replies are great for that, but only if that person starts their tweet with @flowerdust.

this link will show you who is saying what about “flowerdust,”? i also have searches set up for mad church disease, and catalyst backstage at the moment, for example.
what’s great is there is an RSS feed for your unique searches…so now anytime someone says “flowerdust,” “mad church disease,” or “catalyst backstage” in their tweet, it comes straight to my google reader!

I’ve utilized this method for several weeks now, sending everything to my Google Reader. It’s quite effective in allowing me to keep with what people are saying about WAY-FM.
I’ve responded to some (much to their surprise). I’ve even sent free music to complete strangers. Just trying to make “listeners for life,” and giving fans something they never expected.
Or, you can just use the ADOBE AIR APP called “tweetdeck.”
It does all of this in real time. Insanely awesome:

I’ve used the Twitter search before but I never thought to subscribe to the RSS feed for the search results. Now I’ll never lose those @bradruggles tweets!

There’s also twitteriffic on the mac or twhirl which is an adobe air app as well for desktops.
I’ve been using this to follow tweets about my company (360Hubs) and my church (Sandals). Gotta say, I agree with Zak above, once I discovered tweetdeck, everything else paled in niftiness. I use the search function there and just adore the “shorten that stinking long URL” feature (without having to jump over to tinyurl).

If I was to twitterpitter I would say that I don’t understand twitter. Yeah…all that drama makes my head hurt.
