have you been burned out?

i need your story. more importantly, others need your story.

they need to know they’re not alone.

so…i need your video.

nothing fancy. you and your iSight and YouTube or vimeo.

i am putting together some clips of church leaders who have burned out, think they might be, or have recovered for a small workshop i am teaching. what do you feel? what are the pressures you experience? do you miss your family? your relationship with christ?

or, are you a spouse of a church leader and you’re afraid your husband or wife is burning out? please share, too…

videos will be shown and only your first name will be used.

please shoot me an email or leave me a comment if you think you could sum up your story in about a minute’s time. i’d need these by next friday.

i would really appreciate it.

thanks!

I like to call it the call to the temple from the campfire….from the words of Jason Upton….”been to church and now I’m back again….yada, yada. I’ve told my story too much, I think that you will still get more than enough responses.

I have been so burned out I found almost all church signs terribly offensive. Jesus didn’t offend me though.

    Anne,

Well, I didn’t THINK I was burnt-out, but when I found myself coming to tears (which I hardly EVER do) while at your session at the MinistryCom08 conference, I woke up.

And I can say, I do like what I do. But, there is one nagging thing that no one can seem to answer for me, and I can’t seem to come to grips with it. I ask every church worker I can get my hands on this same thing —- and everyone agrees, but no one can give me an answer.

WHY is it that the meanest and nastiest people I’ve had to deal with in a work setting are CHURCH people?! I have worked in the secular world, and there, for the most part, people bent over backwards to be nice to others, but not so in the church.

What I want to know is — how do people deal with this vast difference between what you would expect from Christians, and what the reality is. I cannot seem to get past this, and I steam each and every day about it.

    Anyone have an answer?
