i’ll admit. sometimes when tony comments, it makes me mad. he likes pushing buttons.
but i also have learned that deep down inside, he’s a sappy teddy bear. (see, that’s what you get for making sarcastic comments…i publicly call you a sappy teddy bear. that’ll teach you.)
all kidding aside, tony has offered to match a $300 donation $400 to compassion’s global food crisis fund.
so, if you donated last night or can donate now, please do so and leave a comment with the amount you donated. if you would prefer to stay anonymous, just put in fake information in the comment name and email field.
but seriously…here is an opportunity for at least $600 to be given to help feed people who desperately need it…that is feeding over fifteen families!
let’s do it! you guys have always rocked on stuff like this. i really wanted to eat out with a friend today, but i’m going to put that $25 in the fund right now.
your turn!
so let’s all donate something and make this sappy teddy bear match our $300 $400 in donations.
We are already at over $800 $1000 $1100 $1200 $1600 over $1800, but don’t let that stop you from giving!!!! Let’s get as many kids fed as we can. You guys never cease to amaze me by your generosity!!!

I wouldn’t have known about the need if not for your blog.

$1203!
I was gonna give $5, the minimum amount you suggested but the Spirit prompted me to give more, so I gave $20.
Thanks for giving us this challenge, Anne. =) It’s great to see what a difference “just one person” combined with another “just one person” combined with another “just one person” can do!
alrighty then….but doing it incognito… $78.00
$1301
(Which is almost THIRTY FOUR FAMILIES!!!)
Anne,
Thank you so much for using this forum and your popularity to raise awareness about serious issues in Uganda. Especially issues that impact innocent children.
People need to continue to seek solutions to the root causes of these types of crisis. The current food crisis in Uganda is not being caused by famine or drought. Uganda is the breadbasket of Africa. You have been there. You have seen the lush, abundance of food. So much food rots or is wasted because of the lack of proper food supply infrastructure.
The rising price of food in Uganda is being caused by external conditions that are being felt around the world, including America.
There is no excuse for a place like Uganda to suffer from food shortages. In fact, Africa can feed Africa. People need to stop perpetuating the welfare state that Africa has become. Let’s address the real issues. Corruption. Poor leadership. Global manipulation of African trade markets. Economic inflation caused by free spending non-governmental organizations. Lack of jobs. The brain drain of educated Africans.
Let’s help our friends now. But let’s give them a future too!
My rant is over. Now back to our regularly scheduled program . . .
Great thoughts, Otim.
Also, another $10 from jody from another post!
i love it so much that you guys put your care into action.
Sorry, here’s my confirmation email:

$1613! Holy smokes!!!
so tell me, as we reach dinner time – what are you having?
how ’bout not buying those two beers @ $3 each tonight as you sit there in your favorite diner with your sweet smellin’ wifey – and give the $ to a family that (as Otim educated) can’t afford one of those cholesteral laden, fat hip expanding, belly bustin’, 1/2 lb. burgers with cheese and the 1/4 lb. of greasy steak fries you are going to literally stuff down your mouth?
good grief man –
and don’t tell me you don’t drink – i’m a former southern baptist and i know better:)
you should blog, tony :)
i would rather get flowerdust blog demerits and be called hateful names like sappy teddy bear – btw – i prefer my childhood nickname ‘sappy weasle face’
If there are more sappy teddy bears on here, there is a little girl on my website who has been waiting quite a while for a sponsor. :) But that aside, thank you for raising awareness, Anne and Tony!!
This is Amazing Anne! Thank you so much for posted this! The amount raised is so INSANE! I just hope one day that I can do something like this!
Awesome!
I just donated $10.
Thanks for doing this =]
God Bless ‘_^
$50
I received the email that my compassion child was affected by this too. It’s been sitting in my inbox since yesterday morning, and your blog was the kick I needed. :) Thank you!
Also, there was a box I could click to write to my child, so I did that too – they make it so easy! He is such a sweet little guy. My kids and I love his letters. It’s amazing how our little monthy donation makes such a HUGE difference in his family’s life.
Add $25 more to the total. :)
$1698! Almost $1700. Let’s push it over the edge!
We gave $78 online – our child Zequiel is in the Dominican Republic and is also affected.
How exciting to be a part of a community that will give so freely.
Thank you Anne, Thank you Tony!
i gave $50 last night.
$1826 and counting…now I wonder if we’ll hit 2k!
tony, you should match the $1400 :) dare you.
for real man what you are doing is awesome. i’m sorry for dogging you earlier.
$50.00 for them, Anne. I wish I could give more. I love your heart.
Tony: Awesome match game, man.
wowser! you guys/girls made my weekend !
btw – when/if you go to that building we call ‘church’ today please realize that you have ‘done church’ already and praise God you had an extra 5-300 bucks to further the kingdom – your gift has defeated satan AGAIN – yes, it’s that huge of a deal in the Kingdom (my opinion).
have a blessed day and anne, forgive me for kinda staking claim on your blog this weekend – thank you for your graciousness to do that – i’ll really try to be quiet next week!
your friend in feeding the world,
sappy weasle face
$1876!
I am so moved. I already donated and documented it earlier, but came back just to check in and see what happened. I’m blown away. Thanks Anne. Thanks everybody. I’m inspired.
so is this were it stands Anne? $1876? $124 short of $2k? surely there is $124 more out there somewhere.
woohoo!!
Good for you all!

I donated $40. And…since we now have a new baby and extra money (yeah, you heard that right…it’s amazing what not having time to eat out or shop will do for your budget), I chose a child from Uganda to sponsor! Thanks for helping me get involved. :-)
I donated $39 – thank you for your passion!
Donated $156.00
I got the same email… I donated $39
donated $78 on Aug 20. this is so great!
I just came across your blog – thank you so much for doing this! My post yesterday was about the food crisis in our neighboring Zimbabwe – it is terrible to hear the stories of what is happening there.
