mad church disease sneak peek

have you heard of wordles? what you do is copy and paste in any amount of text and it will pull out the most commonly used words and organize them in size, largest (most used) to smallest.

i thought it would be fun to see what words i used the most in mad church disease, so i copied and pasted in the entire manuscript. almost 50,000 words.

and here are the most commonly used words (click to see full size):

Mad Church Disease

hopefully this gives you a little sneak peek into the major themes of the book…they are working on the interior design of the book right now, and i’ve got to say i can’t wait to see the final layout. they are implementing some really cool design ideas!

anyhoo, just thought i’d share.

I think someone on Relevant posted this a few days ago. Pretty sweet.

Vomit words? I like that! That’s a neato tool, too! I’m sure it’s a relief to see that God is the biggest subject. ;)

That’s so cool! I just did it for a book I’m working on and it’s pretty sweet. Thanks for the tip!

I love Wordle! So very cool. I posted about it here – a visualization of my del.icio.us tags, which I decided is a pretty good summary of what I think about in the digital world.

i love wordle… i really think it’s cool. But i can’t help but wonder if the people behind wordle are storing everything people input. So, do they now have your whole book manuscript on file somewhere to use however they wish?

@buscuet – that is fine with me. the have the first draft…which is just terrible. :)

@Anne – Gotcha. That’s cool then. The only reason i thought of that is because after your post i went and pasted in an entire paper i wrote for grad school and as soon as i did it i thought, “crap, that paper just became the property of a random website.” Oh well… sometimes i think i’m just paranoid by how crazy technology is, although i find myself on the leading edge a lot of times.

Love Wordles!! Glad everyone is picking it up. It lets you see how self-absorbed (or non self-absobed) your own site is! Lol.

Love it. Can’t wait to get my hands on this book!

Love that God is so big and bold! This just looks so cool – and can’t wait to read your book to see how you put these “wordles” words in action!

I love your Wordle! It certainly reveals (in a positive way) what your book is about. I host “Wordle Wednesday” on my blog every week — and invite others to send me copies (or the code) for their Wordles. Also, could I post your Wordle on my site this week? My Wordle this week was “Horton Hears a Who!”

    Anne –

I am purchasing your book now! When I saw the book title I knew exactly what you meant. Didn’t even have to read the description.

I recently talked to my husband about writing a book to help with the exact same issues. I will one day as I believe there are so many scenarios in so many churches that can be helped, give hope and and guide people through very specific ministry situations.

A pastor’s daughter myself, I felt such stress and struggle from leadership decisions my Dad was making and it made being a teen/kid more difficult in areas that most friends wouldn’t understand! THANK YOU for being on the frontier of ministering to our minister’s and family’s. This is a much forgotten area of the church. Prayer and support is very much needed for those in “ministry job” situations. Cannot wait to read!
