So, tell me what you want…I’m Blogging Catalyst 08…for YOU

i have decided to step out of my introverted comfort zone a bit.

last week, after a lovely telephone call with this guy, i learned that i will be given the honor of wearing a pretty little badge that gets me in everywhere (except maybe the men’s restroom, maybe?) at a nifty little conference called catalyst. Catalyst 2008

what this allows me to do, i think, (without getting ushered out by big, hairy security guys) is to talk to speakers, including a couple of my favorite people, ask questions, and then blog it as live as humanly possible.

and maybe even get some of it on camera.

roll that beautiful bean footage.

so…again, the thing that makes this adventure different than the other live blogging adventures of the past is i want to know what YOU want.

not what you want to ask people (yet)…but what would make this a good experience for you?

think outside the conference blogging box, mkay?

we all know there will be huge games, great bands, great speakers, and world records broken…not to mention the great bloggers blogging away about what all is happening that we’re not there to see.

i want to hear stories of what God is doing around this country or around the world…real life examples of how God is changing lives and working in lives, for His honor and glory.

    that gets me excited!

congrats on the badge and stepping out of the box…i wouldn’t recommend the men’s room though…trust me!

Behind the scenes stuff; how big is the entourage, biggest surprises…

Anne- Between the mainstage and the labs, there are a few minority speakers that are not as well known. I would like to hear your thoughts on their sessions, time-slots and the receptiveness of the audience.

    Anne,

I’ve never been. I want so badly to go. Take me there virtually. I can read all about the main sessions throughout the blog world, but what is the experience like. What goes on at the “get togethers” after the sessions? What about the vendors that are there? Is there anything new to offer burgeoning young leaders? Is it one big networking conference, or is true leadership mentoring taking place?

    Anne,

that is a great honor! you will have a blast. I’ll be at Catalyst again this year blogging everything I can from my phone (that’s how Ben Arment and I first hooked up.)

I would love an opportunity like this. Have a blast!

My suggestions would be to get the backstage stuff and make sure its archived online (like ustream or youtube) for people like me to see it later. At the Purpose Driven Summit last month, that’s what LOS, DJ, and Tony did and it was awesome to get back to the hotel each night and have EVEN MORE content from the conference.

Also, if you get a chance, be sure to interview Billy Graham and Andy Stanley!

If I can do anything to help let me know.

hmmm…what came to mind was video of folks who are willing to honestly reveal how the Lord is working in them through the Catalyst event.

i know from attending events at willow that God often ambushes us in great ways in those environments. :)

    thanks for asking, friend!

Would it be possible to have readers post follow up questions/comments that you could ask and blog their answers?

Ask them all a question that will catch them off guard and see how they respond. That would be fun…..or the biggest lesson they learned from there mother.

I think it would be cool if you could get a cage full of wild monkeys and just turned them loose. That would make it better for me.

Anne, Catalyst rocks! One of my favorite times all year. see you around the crowded halls! Will your book be available there?

And the one thing I would add so I can post it on the web and show the world what an elite ministry nerd I am is to have a life size cardboard cut out of you and all the guest speakers with an open spot in the middle for me to stick my face and snap a photo. That would be … perfect.

it would also be very catalystesque.

That’s so cool! The Catalyst conference is the one thing I prioritize every year to make it to. I love it.

Since we’ll be co-workers by then and since I’m a Catalyst junkie I’m so excited that you get to do this! …And beware I may be trailing your coattails the entire time! :)

    Jenni, please do!

#1. Questions and answers that are 140 characters or less ;)

    #2. Live video streams!

#3. Behind the scenes funny stuff, like:
What kind of food spreads are the special guests getting to eat?
What’s everyone wearing on stage for their presentation and why?
How the techies are making the magic happen on stage?
A segment on “what went wrong” at Catalyst this year (something always goes wrong)?

I want to be your personal IT person and make sure you have everything you need – you might even need another macbook to help you out. I can even get in the mens room for you!

I would like some “real” wives/mothers that have planted… maybe their stories and then a question/answer time. There are so many things I’m curious about with this whole planting thing… I’m curious to know what others have done that have gone before me.

    Go see Scott McKnight please.

Bring back some organic stories about faith in Christ springing up in the strangest of places.

Bring back some stories that inspire hope and creativity – and that would motivated the ordinary person, outside of the Christian ministry scope.

maybe help us take some of the celebrity out of things – but capturing the spirit of things instead.
