Depending on the what… but it might be everything to nothing. from my soul to my life to my car… I will start with my soul and hope I am doing everything I can to stay on the right path…

    Eternity.

Which is not worth risking to lose.

    Happiness.

Again, not worth risking to lose.

    Freedom.
    Healing.
    Life.
    Family.
    Community.
    Understanding.
    Comfort.

The only things not worth the risk of losing are the things that we should take the risk for so we can receive them.

    My high-paying job.
    My security.
    My comfort.
The support of my dad who thinks the things above are the most important things in life.

(I just quit my job today to move to plant a church in Fayetteville, AR).

    And it’s worth it.

Amen. The sweetest elements in my life only came about by taking foolish, criticized leaps.

We took a leap when we left our comfy pew/seat and are starting a new church. I need to take more leaps than I do! When Christ is the one asking you to leap there is never a reason to hold back!

    Hey I leapt today…
    and resigned from my job.
    GULP!
I know God has something better.

Recently I lost my iphone and wedding ring (those were recovered after a month hiatus). This week I have lost my wallet. I’ve already lost my mind and my sanity. After some beatings, my personal pride is hanging on by a thread as well (that can be a good thing, for sure). So the list of things to lose is dwindling, but there’s still some biggies that keep me leaping.

Nothing, we didn’t have anything to begin with.

    Funny you should post/ask this.

My day starts off by asking this question, then I ask it about 400 more times throughout the day.

Life is about choices (among other things), and most of the time we let our negative choices over shadow all the positive ones. Sometimes when you leap, the outcome may not be what you expected, but it’s always something worthwhile.

Try taking a leap and forming a NPO, with your only direction being a word/gift/vision from God.

God’s good, but sometimes it’d be a whole heck of a lot easier if someone like Donald Trump was sitting next to me, helping me out. :-/

I have much to lose but even more to gain!

so much to lose, but so much to gain. for the last six years i have been hitting the snooze button – when i have been direct otherwise.

so i left a corp job at fox news and went to work for a church and help with strategic organizational development and serve as a director of communications and media. and now i feel that i am gaining everyday.

    My families support…

… but you know what? Risking it all for Jesus is totally worth it.

We took a major leap 3 years ago. We didn’t even know why. And it is still playing out — beautifully. My husband is leaping right now. The only thing he is losing right now is time. He works a lot. Will it be worth it? We think so and we prayed right through the decision. Just like last time. Now things are starting to play out — beautifully.

Leaping is not easy. Things will come up against you. But leaping is the only way to live. Pray first, gain wisdom/discernment, then LEAP. You’ll not regret it!

comfort, security, THINGS…THINGS that don’t matter in eternity, but see awful important here and now…

    Lose?
    High paying job designing missiles.

    Gain?
Selling coffee to save the world

Praying for the time to leap…

    if He leads it?

    nothing that He can’t restore.

    if I lead it?

    all that matters.

My voice. My ability to participate in leading worship.
    And about 65 lbs.

Dang, I can’t wait until my blog gets big enough that I can write a 1-word title and a 6-word blog post and get away with it! ;-)

Good question though – it’s one that my wife and I have been asking ourselves a lot over the last few years. And after years of leaping (and living) we’re learning to trust God more and take bigger leaps.

Hard to top the Jim Elliot line: He is no fool who gives (leaps?) what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.

I always wonder what would happen if I stopped straddling the fence and just leapt off to one side………..

  25. pollyh Avatar

I sit here and wonder what it would be like to be totally honest, committed, quit wanting to see if the grass is greener on the other side–essentially to take that leap. What have I got to lose? Don’t know, but I think it’s time I found out. You?

  26. Joe Louthan Avatar

Don’t worry, Anne. I will be leaping.

I got nothing to lose and the glory of God to be gained.

Like Morpheus said, “You have to let it all go. Fear. Doubt. Disbelief.”

  27. Monica B. Avatar

    amen to John Ireland’s answer.

laughing (in good way) at Joe above. Morpheus. Preach it, brother.

i took a leap today–i have never been told no as many times as i was in one day! but the outcome was still blessed. that made it all worth it.

  29. jill Avatar

I know all things are worth risking if it’s for God but there are times when I wonder how we always know. When am I leaping through faith toward something He has in mind… and when am I leaping aimlessly or toward something I have in mind but think it’s what He has in mind. (Wow, I’m talking in circles…) D’ya get my drift, though?

Definitely leaping. And while there is some pain involved – there is also tremendous joy. Praying for all as you go froggy!

    NOTHING!!

    “Give up the ground
    Under your feet
Hold on to nothing for good
Turn and run at the mean times
    Chasing you
    Stand alone and misunderstood”

Lyrics for Reflecting Light, Sam Phillips
