this weekend, i am sharing my thoughts on blogging community at the lifechurch.tv internet campus. something i am talking about is how this community here on flowerdust.net has formed over the last few years and how we truly do cover each other in prayer, support, advice, and even discuss the questions of life. we even fight a little bit. all signs of healthy relationships!
so, with that…i think it’s time to have another post dedicated to how we can pray for each other. i will be checking in over the weekend and praying for you, and encourage you to come back and do the same for others.
i’ll start.
chris & i could really use your prayers about our finances. we have cut back so much, but like some of you shared, similarly, we have made poor decisions in our past that we are paying for now. there is also quite a bit of medical debt that we were able to defer but it is now staring at us in the face and is making a tight situation tighter. i could identify with much of what anonymous had to say earlier this week.
please pray that we are sensitive to areas we are able to cut back on so we can build more margin into that area of our life. and for god’s protection. we don’t have any room for emergencies!

God is stirring in me a desire for church planting and mnistry…i need clarity…i need peace to understand what he is doing…how he is leading….where he is taking me…..
basically…i just want to sit in his pressence and let him love me……

We are at the point of moving into a new house. It’s an answer to prayer, but more prayer is needed! We could desperately use some prayer as we transition to a larger mortgage payment, and all the expenses associated with moving. It seems like such a trivial thing with all the events going on in the world; but it’s not trivial to my family.
Thanks for sharing that Anne! I am in a very similar boat as you are Chris find yourself according to what you described. We(my wife and I) are just wanting God’s direction to be able to “fix” the previous mistakes and then move forward with margin in the finances.

1 – I am moving to CO (Colorado Springs) this summer. Pray for wisdom, finances, job searching, church searching, friend searching, etc.
2 – my two close friends are getting married tomorrow (to each other girl and boy :) ) Pray for a beautiful day, that it wouldn’t rain and that God would bless there marriage.
my last living grandparent (my dad’s dad) – Jack Ireland – passed away on monday.
though there were some hopeful indications, i am not sure where my granddad stood with God when he breathed his last. BUT, i know God is just and find great solace in that truth.
though i certainly would appreciate intercession for me, my request is that you would pray for my dad and his sister. they have carried the heaviest burden through the past couple of weeks.
i am not sure of my aunt, but my dad is seeking hard and there is nothing more i would love to see happen than dad enter into real life with Christ.

My mom is still in ICU from having her 3rd cancer related major surgery in 4 years. Surgery was 2 weeks ago. Please pray for healing and endurance
Last fall my husband’s business partners informed him they wanted to buy him out of the company, right as we were poised to move out of state so he could be in the office with them. They left the ball of initiating the buyout process entirely in his court. Now here we are, almost 9 months later, and nothing has been done on either side. We are not getting paid by them even though legally he is still an owner. My husband is freelancing, but now we are back to having no regular paycheck and no savings, which of course leads to high stress.
Please pray that this situation will be completely resolved soon and that God will give my husband whatever motivation or encouragement he needs to start this process.
We are having a big yard sale, trying to downsize as we are moving to Tucson from Kansas! I know you know a thing or two about transitions, please pray that our transition goes smoothly. My last Sunday is May 25th. Thanks! We appreciate it!

Thanks for praying. It seems I definitely need a lot of it lately. My grandpa just recently got out of the hospital and we had to put him in a nursing home, so its been tough for my family to get all of that figured out. My cousin just had a new born baby and the baby passed away not quite two weeks later. Another hard thing to grieve for my family. And then the following week my brother unexpectedly called off his wedding, so our family is having a hard time understanding and grieving his fiance who we loved so much and wanted to be apart of our family so much. I am also being moved into a huge new position at work that im really excited about, but nervous about all of the responsibilities! Wow…that was a lot. Thanks again for praying.
My son and I are trying to move. It’s down to the wire and I’m praying that God will make a way. I need guidance since I don’t want to step out ahead of him.

Your past post about ‘eating lots of pasta’ to save money got me thinking about how I should spend my money more wisely (not that I’m not doing it now- I think).

we are 6 months pregnant and found out last month our baby girl has one blocked kidney. the doctors think it will stop functioning before she is born. they are also watching one of her brain ventricles that is slightly enlarged. if it continues to grow, it could me developmental delays. i am having an extremely difficult time with all of this, feeling let down by God and scared for my baby. our next ultrasound is on wednesday, so prayer that she will be healed, and adrian and i remain strong and faithful through this is needed.

We also need prayer for finances. I have been out of work since the end of January. God has been SO faithful to His promise to meet our needs but I really need to go back to work.

kasey and i could use God’s wisdom and guidance as i am seeking a full time job in ministry. this will most likely require moving and pay cuts. but we know that it is God’s will, so we’re confident that He will supply our needs. we just need to know where and when He would have us make the move.

Thanks for being so honest. Why is it so hard to share about money problems? We are also facing a lot of medical bills coming due. I just got started with a program using coupons & getting newsletters to coordinate with the sales in my area. If you are interested it is http://www.couponsense.com — I don’t know if they do this in your area. Just today I got SIX Aquafresh toothbrushes for FREE using coupons & the sale!! Just a thought on how to save some $$.
Right now I have some major life decisions looming…and I need wisdom and discernment so that I know which opportunities to pursue and which opportunities to decline.

I need prayer for wisdom as there are some big decisions that I may need to make regarding my future in the next few weeks. Very overwhelming at the moment.
finances of my church, our leadership’s decisions moving forward with new hires, lead teaching pastor, etc., my time and energy in prepping for my vacation that begins next week….
Please pray for our family as my husband starts his new job and we begin the transition home to Oklahoma. God opened the door and we’re trusting Him to get us through the upheaval of moving and settling back in. Anne – you’ll be in our prayers tonight. We’ve struggle financially so that I can be home to raise our kids – and sometimes it feels overwhelming. God has never failed to meet our needs though.
Our church had finally found the perfect place for us to relocate – the guy changed his mind and doesn’t want to sell to us. We are now starting over and asking God for wisdom.
I would appreciate prayers for my house selling, sufficient fundraising and for the transition to move as part of a new church plant. Thanks!
There are some very unloveable people in my life that I’m struggling with getting along with. God’s really been working on grace with me and I need prayer that I can actually put His grace into practice in these relationships.
Wisdom and guidance in prep for a presentation I’m giving on “integrity in leadership” in July… I’m going on a youth missions trip to Kosova, and as a student myself, lecturing a group of high schoolers in another country is quite intimidating.

Please pray for my husband, my daughter, and I as we are in the adoption process. It’s really fun but sometimes the spiritual battle(i don’t think Satan is happy that we’re adopting)is so crazy.
Also, I have a friend who is pregnant with her 4th and whose teenage daughter is insistent upon making sure that everyones life is miserable, everyday. Please pray for their whole family.

It is very cool to read where everyone is at in life. It’s a good reminder of how everyone has stress, transitions, and joys of their own – I can be so self-centered.
I’m leaving Sunday for a “Women in Ministry” conference in New York. That’s a long way from Oregon where my husband and three little ones are! Bless that sweet man (seriously – bless him!). I’m terribly excited for much-needed break and potential for mind-blowing learning and fellowship. I really desire to specifically hear the Spirit’s leading through this conference.

I have an opportunity to join a ministry team. My family is really excited about the opportunity, but it means relocating and a bit of a pay-cut. We are needing our house to sell so we can get our move on.
I would like prayer for beginning a new job (started on Wednesday), for my walk with Christ-to walk the talk, and for finances. J and I also made mistakes when we were younger and now we are paying down debt.
Also, we are praying for you and the Hubs. Still need to challenge you in Wii tennis.
So many needs, but praying is power. My husband’s father has terminal cancer and we are all taking turns around the clock with him in the hospital. Trying to balance keeping up with jobs and three boys 6 and under. His dad is a believer praise the Lord, but unbelievably difficult and stressful time. We need endurance, peace and wisdom and we are praying the Lord will draw other family to him thru this. Thank you!
A guy on staff at our church passed away last week after a battle with cancer. He was 31. We had the memorial service today. He had a wife and two young boys. Please pray for them as they face the new reality of life without him.
Okay, this brought up something weird for me. Does any one else feel odd praying with their eyes open in order to be able to read the requests you are praying for? Makes me feel a little odd, but I am guessing God doesn’t care. After all I pray in the shower all the time and I don’t feel odd about that.

PS Could use some prayer as my heart is acting up, the future inlaws are putting lots of stress on, for our finances, Sarah’s back, and my parents health. But mostly that I would just remember that God wants to take all my worries and all my troubles.
PSS Does anyone else feel bad when someone prays for them and they for some reason or another don’t pray back for the other person? If I am being completely candid I will probably pray for a handful of these requests. I pray though that God would give me more of a heart for people.
I have a general, ‘pray for my friends’ request. So many of the wonderful women around me are going through struggles of various kinds (infertility, infidelity in their marriages, illness, etc) and it hurts my heart but I know that prayer works wonders. I just have to remind myself of it daily. My life is in a good place – I need to use this rest to PRAY like mad for my dear friends!!
I look forward to going back and reading and praying for these requests.
My finances are totally screwed up. Noone’s fault but my own. My foolishness.
I have decided to go on a money fast. I am spending NO money for the next week. No eating out, no starbucks, nothing that costs money. The bills are paid, gas is in the car, we have some groceries. We can survive this.
I hope see strongholds broken in my life through this process. I am already seeing patterns of compulsive spending. When I feel the urge to spend, I’m asking God to fill me instead of me trying to fill myself with things that can’t.

Don’t you love how community works? You offer to pray for us and you are inundated with people praying for you. I love that. Give all that you have and God piles it back on you.
I’ll be praying for you in this area, Anne. I’ve already been through those early years where finances are a huge area and a huge temptation. Some of it gets better with the years, and some of it doesn’t. About the time you get a handle on the subject you end up with kids like mine, who now need to learn that lesson on their own! God is faithful, and he’ll complete the work in you and your hubby.

In March I spoke to 300+ moms about how they can help their sons choose purity instead of pornography. Since then, I’ve wondered and prayed “What next?” for that topic. (I speak on this 2 more times in the fall. And it is emotionally and spiritually exhausting!!)So, please pray for wisdom and direction and strength.

Nicky, some close friends went through a kidney blockage with their daughter invitro. Many prayed and God gave them a perfectly healthy baby girl. Be hopeful. Shanda, a money fast. What an awesome idea.
Anne, I sing with The Orchard’s worship team. I have a herniated disc in my neck which is damaging the nerve into my right arm causing weakness. The surgery recommended will most likely damage my vocal nerve making me permanently hoarse. I’m having a hard time accepting that I would not be able to sing again at that level. Pray for the non surgical alternatives to work in enough time to save the damaged nerve and restore strength to my arm.
You know what I think I love most about prayer requests? Knowing that I am not alone in struggles, be they financial, medical, or whatever.

My hope and prayer is that my personal Compassion ministry would take-off and blossom for His glory…And if my plate should be filled, that He would give me a bigger plate.
I pray that the Jesus + Compassion blog that I maintain might somehow be used towards this end — many, many children would be sponsored and opportunities to share the Compassion ministry would beat a path to my door.
It’s a huge prayer, but God is much huge-er.

I just found your blog recently. I am a pastors wife and seeing your transparency was really refreshing. It’s nice to see a “real” Christian with “real” needs. Thanks for not giving the illusion of perfection. Now everything you blog means so much more! Pray that I can learn to be more “real” or more human. I think it is much more effective.
I have had major flauctions in my weight in the last 18 months. Because of meds I was put on by my doctor I lost 18 pounds gained back 25, lost another 20 the just put on 18. I am concerned with the effects this has on my heart. I was just healed of a heart condition, so I don’t want any set backs. I was miss diaginosed and I am paying for it with my weight. All doctor said was sorry it was a lab error. Please pray for me as I “detox” myself and try to lose weight in a healthy and safe way.

Please pray for me. My heart is broken from an unfulfilling childhood and continues today with an extended family that is neither my safe haven nor loving place to turn. I have looked to the church to be my family, and that has been a huge disappointment as well. I’m finding that I am in great discouragement right now, and need a touch from God (and a Christian family would be nice, too – even if it’s not in the form of my biological family). I have a husband and children, but I still have that hole and disappointment in my life….
Anne, praying for your finances. You know what I think about tithing! Praying that God gives you utter clarity about how to use every penny you are in charge of.
At last we have a new Senior Pastor. Steve has arrived and is settling in well. Felicity and I are insecure about the future though – please pray that God gives us his peace about our part in this new season of ministry. It’s been a very tough two years since our previous SP died.
My wife is due with our 3rd child in July. We have to get a larger vehicle (3rd row SUV or Van) to safely carry all the children in their car seats and booster seat and that means most likely a higher payment and more cost in gas, which we cannot afford either right now.
We are trying to cut back financially as well and pay off old credit card debt to help. Our biggest prayer is to sell our current vehicle versus trading it in, that will help not having to get a higher car payment.

My husband (Scot) is at a crossroads in his career and is struggling with where to go from here. Please pray for wisdom as he makes decisions and peace about God’s plan for him. I have an urgent request for prayer. Last night my brother in law Charlie went to the hospital with chest pain. This morning after a heart cath they found 5 blocked arteries that were at least 80% blocked. Tomorrow morning at 9am he has open heart surgery. Please pray for him, his wife Kelly, son Nick and daughter Chasity. Charlie is scared, upset and we are praying that he will see his need for Christ!! We would be so excited and thankful if he came to know Christ! Thank you!

I have a daughter with OCD who simply cannot get to bed before 2 or 3 every morning. She doesn’t need sleep, she fights it, and her anxiety disorder makes her require someone be awake with her – me. By the way, she is 15. We’ve been doing this for 15 years.
Please pray that my husband and I will deal with her in kindness and compassion, using wisdom. This was posted at 3:27 AM, by the way.
