so this post is all about prayer.
i honestly don’t have a lot of creative writing power right now…so, instead of faking something, i’d rather we do something together as this blog community and pray.
a few weeks ago, you all listed your requests…today, i have one of my own.
i got a message from michael about some terrible violence in juarez, mexico. his church has partnered with that community and god has done great work through them. they actually had to cancel their mission trip due to the violence.
michael requests:
Pray for all the citizens of Juarez.
Pray for any tourists that maybe trying to get out safely.
Pray for the pastors of Juarez and their congregations.
Pray for the city, state and Mexican national government officials.
Pray for the police and military.
Pray for the hearts and minds of the criminals.
over 218 people have been killed since the new year, with over 30 being killed over easter weekend.
“‘These types of events, which were isolated within the ranks of organized crime, are now seen by everyone, at any hour, in broad daylight, and worst of all, in 100 percent family places,’wrote Ciudad Juarez reporter Gamaliel Carrasco Arjon.”
could you imagine your weekly family trip to the local super target and having your spouse and kids witness someone getting killed right there on the side of the road?
please pray for this situation…

Thank you Anne for the reminder of Juarez – I went to school in New Mexico and even as a young married adult recall how unsettling it was to go to Juarez(a favorite destination for shopping and partying – border towns catering to American dollars). I’m ashamed to admit until I read your reminder – I quit praying a long time ago for something specific I wanted to see happen in Juarez. It’s going back on my reminder page now – vaya con dios Anne – and I’m convicted this morning by the fact when something happens to the least of these – we are all lessened.
thanks for inviting us into this!
come, Lord Jesus, come…
We have it good here
I find it sad to think about how life for me can gravitate into cruise control mode without a care in the world (I am being totally honest here). Maybe “care” is the wrong word, maybe wrapped up in my little square is the more appropriate statement. Then an event jumps into my path – a.k.a. your blog that reminds us there are those out there that are hurting beyond our little square – and bam – life seems to veer off the road. Thank you for the reminder, and my prayers go out to them.
unfathomable.
That picture really tugs at your heart. I get so caught up in my own problems in my own little world that I forget about the pain that exists out there.

Many of my friends were just in Juarez leading up to Easter…I am grateful for their safety, and surprised that they made it across the border in the first place. I heard they were locking it down that same week.
Thank you for the call to prayer, Anne. It is truly needed and appreciated by my friends (family, really) that work in the confines of Juarez regularly.
Thanks for this, Anne. Our church has a 30+-year partnership with a group of churches in Juarez. We had a group there last weekend that was unable to cross the border for some time due to all the soldiers being in the streets. We’d appreciate prayers for the Hands of Luke ministry and all the churches affiliated with the ministry.
Anne,
Thanks so much for bringing this concern to a wider audience and thanks to all who have commented and committed to pray.
Michael
Praying.
Thanks for posting this. Our church has gone to Juarez many times. We’ll be praying.
Sorry, another post- Is anyone connected with Proyecto Abrigo?
