Between 4pm & 11pm, I spent close to 5 hours in my car driving. I finished the U2 cd I was listening to then station-surfed for a while. I heard some old 90s stuff, and then listened to the City of Angels soundtrack. On the way back, found a public station with some VERY old (circa 40s) country music and finished off the trip with the Dallas Symphony performing a variety of latin pieces, conducted by German Gutierrez. A very well-rounded musical journey indeed.
Every morning, Charlie Parker wakes me up at 6am. He once said:
Music is your own experience, your thoughts, your wisdom. If you don’t live it, it won’t come out of your horn. ~Charlie Parker.
What are you listening to at the moment?

By the way…you know about XM Radio right? The ultimate music lover’s tool…
A Collision by David Crowder and Grown by Kendall Payne.
XM radio for me … i drift between the classical channel, frank s. and his 40s-50s era swing et al, and the ‘spa’ channel (well, that’s what i call it, so i don’t have to say ‘new age’):)
i’ve really sort of gotten back into a classical mode as of late … guess it’s my roots, so it’s nostalgic to re-visit. well, that and it’s usually complex and interesting, so go figure.
the last couple of mornings i’ve been waking up to everyone’s beautiful by waterdeep. i’ve got xy by coldplay playing in my car. when i’m working i’ll listen to a yahoo launch station (everything from crowded house to jill scott to coltrane to nichole nordeman–it’s pretty great) or relevant tv.
Lately it’s been Corinne Bailey Rae and Xavier Naidoo, with a dash of Gnarls Barkley and a sprinkle of Black Eyed Peas.
candyce, nice. i love waterdeep. just because i’m lazy, i haven’t switched the one CD in my car for a couple weeks…but, i’m still not tired of it. United, “united we stand”. great pick me up for those monday mornings. Also, i’m really digging the new Starfield and the new Keane. Those have been in rotation in our other car.
Janine – love it !
Brian – I need to check out the new Keane. I don’t know why I’ve been putting it off.
Sometimes when I need a boost of energy I put in Relient K’s “Two Lefts Don’t Make a Right, But Three Do” and it always seems to help. It gets me signing at the top of my lungs. So currently, that CD has been playing over and over and over in my car. Haha.
